Meet  the Founder

Gabriell Garner

Postpartum and Infant Care Doula, Birth Doula, Bereavement Doula, Pediatric Sleep Consultant, and Newborn Care Specialist.

Gabriell Garner is the Founder and CEO of The Flourishing Mama Co.  Her advocacy for women, empowering them through pregnancy, childbirth and motherhood, led her to starting her own business as a Doula in late 2020. With her strong admiration for supporting the growing families within her community, Gabriell is working to establish a collective of like-minded perinatal professionals, to support, educate and empower; bringing more awareness to ‘why’ doulas are a necessity throughout the stages of pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and parenthood.

Gabriell is a mother to the most rambunctious, smart and funny little boy who she adores so much. She is also a mother of an angel, who grew her wings shortly after childbirth in 2011. Gabriell grew up in the Washington, D.C. metro area near the FedEx Field Stadium, with her parents and two older sisters. She's lived in various locations throughout the DMV like Baltimore City, Rockville, Gaithersburg and Alexandria (her favorite place). She loves spending time with family and friends, laughing and creating memories. She enjoys traveling, eating crabs, playing cards, listening to 80’s and 90’s music and visiting her local wineries.

Gabriell started her working career as a teacher in Early Childhood Development before transitioning to a nanny in 2011, where she worked with many first time parents returning back to work after maternity leave - she nannied in areas like Capitol Hill, North Potomac, Cleveland Park and Baltimore City. It wasn't until Gabriell became a nanny and started being present for baby #2 and even baby #3 in some instances, that she realized how much emotional and physical support a mother truly needs during pregnancy and throughout the first year after; naturally, she started helping more around the home, helping the big sibling prepare for the baby, setting up and organizing the nursery, being on-call incase mom went into labor, and helping out wherever it was needed.

Gabriell is a Postpartum and Infant Care Doula, Birth Doula, Bereavement Doula, Pediatric Sleep Consultant and Newborn Care Specialist. She trained with organizations such as ProDoula, Newborn Care Solutions accredited by the Council for Awards in Care, Health and Education (CACHE), the Center for Pediatric Sleep Management, Stillbirthday, and she is also a member of the International Nanny Association (INA).  She is fully vaccinated and boosted, certified in Adult and Pediatric CPR and First Aid and Medication Administration. Gabriell supports all families regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation or martial status, and has extensive experience working with preemies and newborn twins; she also has experience with feeding tubes and medical grade sleep monitors.

"Being pregnant and giving birth is not easy. So celebrate, uplift, support and make the journey memorable for that mama growing life."

"It is the sunlight of parental love and encouragement that enables a child to grow in competence and slowly gain mastery over his environment."

The Flourishing Mama Co. saved me. My postpartum recovery was tough, and I didn’t realize how much I desperately needed not only sleep, but support, until Gabby came to the rescue. Not only did she take great care of my daughter while I got some much needed rest, she texted me all day while she wasn’t here, answering all my questions about baby care and postpartum care. I’m a  better mother than I was on day one because of her. Her support was/is invaluable (she still answers my text even though her time here has come to an end.) Gabby is so knowledgeable, kind and hardworking. There is no cutting corners with her. She is one of those people that just does things to help you without you even having to ask, which is truly hard to find. I’m incredibly grateful that we found The Flourishing Mama Co. We really miss Gabby and can’t wait to work with her and her team again. Thank you so much The Flourishing Mama Co.!!
